The TG-5 has the imaging power you need to never miss a shot. Its specialized image sensor and dual quad core TruePic™ VIII Processor minimize noise to produce sharp shots in all lighting conditions, even underwater and in low light. Capture fast moving subjects without blur thanks to the bright F2.0 lens, and shoot continuously up to 20 frames per second in full res RAW. SURVIVAL OF THE TOUGHEST

Whether you’re shooting on a rafting trip or in a snowboard park, you’re focused on getting awesome shots. Your camera should take care of itself. The TG-5 does – no protective housing needed. It’s waterproof to 50 ft (15 m), crushproof up to 220 lbf (100 kgf), and shockproof from 7 ft (2.1 m). It’s dustproof and works great even at a bone-chilling 14°F (-10°C). When you’re on the go, temperatures can change quickly. That’s why the TG-5’s lens is equipped with Anti-Fog Dual Pane Protective Glass to stop moisture from getting in. We’ve even designed the knobs and buttons for easy operation while you’re wearing heavy gloves.

With TG-5, incredible still shots are only half the story. Simply turn the TG-5’s Mode Dial to the movie icon to capture Ultra HD 4K video with spectacular detail just as you remember it – the colors in a sunset, the coral on a reef, a skier carving a mountainside. Besides jaw-dropping 4K, you can shoot video in Full HD 1080 or HD 720. Get creative with TG-5’s Full HD 120 fps High Speed Video for slow motion playback. For longer adventures, the 4K Time Lapse feature lets you easily create short videos of extended periods of time.

Use the Focus Bracketing and Focus Stacking Modes to easily create images with maximum depth of field and razor sharp focus. TG 5 did not live up to prior model expectations.

I owned an Olympus TG2 for many years. I took all kinds of awesome photos with the TG2 on many outdoor adventures and lost it on a river trip on the San Juan River. I purchased the TG5 just before a Grand Canyon Colorado River Trip and it has not performed to the expectations of the TG2. It started fogging and sand got in the telephoto level causing it to be tough to move. I did not expect these problems from the TG5 camera. After about 2 years the camera has stopped working all together. I am very skeptical about purchasing another "Tough" camera from Olympus.

Dustproof? Not so much, it appears...

A little over a year ago, I was about to head off on an extended overseas trip, when suddenly my beloved TG-860 started acting up. I figured it wouldn't last. So, since I'd had such a good experience with that Olympus camera, I bought a TG-5 to take on the trip. I was never fully satisfied with the pics it took, especially considering the price. So, when I got home, I switched back to the TG-860, figuring I would use it until it died. Over a year later, I'm still using it several times a week during my hikes. And my hikes are usually in dry, dusty environments. Meanwhile, I was using the TG-5 for other things at home and in town. Today I noticed there is now a large particle of dust, more like a small grain of sand, inside the lens. If I were using this on my hikes, I could imagine this happening, but not when it's only used in gentler circumstances. Needless to say, I'm disappointed. Of course, it is now out of warranty and probably not worth having repaired.
