Poor in low light, slow autofocus
I like the focal length of this lens, but it is quite old and needs to be updated. The autofocus under darker conditions is unusable. It endlessly hunts. It's not a fast or bright lens. I like that Panasonic updated their version and made it weatherproof and faster, hopefully Olympus will do the same.

Durable, good lens for birds
I've had the 75-300 lens since 2011, and have taken literally thousands of pictures with it. I shoot a lot of birds, and have gotten very good results, particularly at shorter distances; 6-20 feet. The larger image minimizes any need to crop, and there is no shortage of detail.

so great for the size/weight
This lens is light enough that I actually bring it hiking frequently, and can get good shots of all the neat critters I see along the trail. Also, the light weight means you can shoot handheld without any problems in most light.

Perfect lens to shoot a partial or total solar or lunar eclipse
Very useful lens for photographing eclipses. The wide end is useful for locating the sun or moon and then zooming in for a great partial or total eclipse picture. This lens is especially useful for the Solar Eclipse that will sweep across the US on August 21, 2017.
