The lens hood is much needed for this wonderful lens, but I am now having to replace the hood for a second time after the hood fell apart in my hands as I tried to adjust it. So frustrating!

Great idea on an incredible lens that is poorly implemented
This is a great idea that is poorly implemented. The fix on Olympus' part should be simple. The decorative at the base (looking at the photo) is simply glued in place and pressed over 6 brass pins. If the ring had channels where the ring had to be turned after seating to lock in place the entire hood would not fall apart. I've had the lens for a year and this morning was cold and the ring (glue) let loose and all of the little parts were lost (mostly the ball bearings).
I have had Olympus cameras since the OM-1 model so my review is likely biased in favor of Olympus.
I agree somewhat with the other reviews about the design flaws of this lens hood; however, I used the lens/hood for four years before it falling apart as described by other reviewers. I found that it was and durable if you handled it carefully. I did find that this hood covered the focus ring when pushed back onto the lens. That was annoying periodically.

Poorly engineered or constructed
Worked fine when it worked, but after only about six weeks of very light use, the whole thing broke into pieces and became useless. Very disappointed

Do you have plans to make it better, all I read with one excepto, is bad reviews and we need to use a hood. Thanks
