LOVE this lens!
I had the 50-200 (from the four thirds line) and it seemed to lag and hunt when trying to shoot sports. This lens works great for shooting middle to high school sports - (football, softball, baseball and soccer) and from Jan - Jun of 2015 I put away my canon and only used my OMD-EM1 with this lens. I used it with the 1.4 converter and it is so wonderful to not have to carry a 6.5 lb lens (my sigma 120-300). I only gave this four stars as I haven't been able to track birds in flight very well yet. It's well made and I love the design of the lens hood so I don't have to remove it to turn it around like I would on my canon lenses.

Great Lens
I bought this lens for my Em5-II. It is well built, operates smoothly and has crystal clear optics. incredibly versatile as a semi macro lens. Although it's a bit heavy, I found outcome is unbelievable! I think with ECG-2 grip on EM5-II, I'll have a better handling of this lens. My next purchase will be the MC-14 to extend the reach. a must have for your lens kit.

yeah, it is all that and more
I would have not expected to use this lens as much as I do. I removed the tripod mount and only pull it out when needed, I find myself hand holding this lens for a surprising range of shots and find it to be incredibly versatile as a semi macro lens, portrait lens, and of course for its distance. Did I say it's sharp? It's a decent sized lens, but not in an obtrusive way. Like all the pro lenses, it's solidly built. I dare say, it may well be my favorite lens.

I've used this lens for three months now. Having used both Canon and Nikon 2.8 zooms in the past, I can say this lens is just as good, with a much longer range, at a lower price. The color is natural, the bokeh is lovely, the sharpness and contrast are fantastic. It shines wide open or closed down a stop or two and across the full range of focal lengths. I have used it with confidence in snow and driving rain. Two things especially that I like are the innovative lens hood that you never have to reverse (all should be made this way) and the snap manual focus ring. It could be improved with arca-swiss grooves on the tripod foot and a more protective case with belt loops. This is not expensive or large or heavy for what it is. In fact it's nearly perfect.

As a former Nikon guy I was used to great optics including the 70-200 f/2.8 and 4 and the 300 2.8 and 4. This is their equal and, while big for an m43 lens, it is far smaller and lighter than they are. The focus is lightening fast, the color and detail are amazing and it is sharp, sharp, sharp. Worth every penny!
