Great output
Great solis lens with a sharp clear outut. Photos are pin sharp and color correct. A bit hefty but you would expect it for a PRO lens. No complaints and no issues

Buy Once, Cry Once
A Buy Once, Cry Once investment! After 10 years on another brand I made the switch back to Olympus. The name on my first camera that had Manual control. That was 1 year ago. I haven't looked back, nor could I be happier. I recently started shooting for the cover, and 2 page feature of local families in a local magazine, and needed to expand my versatility to accommodate for smaller, indoor spaces. As good as my 14-150 f4-5.6 II ED MSC is, it was time to really invest in a Pro lens, and take advantage of the constant f2.8 aperture of the 12-40 Pro lens. The 12-40 f2.8 Pro fits my needs perfectly in this regard. The Alberta weather can be murderous on electronics. Cold to warm, and back again as we cycle through the seasons, and also within a day of shooting. The weather sealing on this lens helps with those outdoor shoots when the temperature dips below zero. The lens is a tank. Although this is a MFT system, and as such smaller and lighter is a virtue, this lens lets you know you have it in your hands. That said, it is still much smaller than it's FF rivals who actually seem to be gaining some weight and girth. Part of my OMD passion is the customization available. I'm a rare person not bothered by the menu system. Seems well laid out in my experience. This love of customization extends to the 12-40 Pro lens, and the Manual Focus Clutch at the front end. This can be set to magnify when turned and also show Focus Peaking. Or even just one of those focusing features. I have it set for Peaking as I have already set a front of body button for Magnification and redundancies confuse me. Image quality is as good as can be found, crisp and sharp. Auto Focus is very fast. Feel is reassuring and solid. Looks are beautiful. I couldn't see myself "needing" any other lens for the interior family features I am currently shooting. It does however send me looking towards the 40-150 f2.8 Pro to have the matched set!

A must have lens
This lens matches if not exceeds performance of the full frame DSLR lenses in this range that I have used. Combined with the incredible image stabilization features of my Olympus camera - this is a winning combination for most of my street and landscape photography needs.

Outstanding everyday use "standard / prime" lens.
Rather than opt for a fixed focal length lens such as the 17mm or 25mm as my standard or prime lens, I picked the 12-40 f2.8 PRO as my first lens for my EM-1. I have never regretted the decision. With the weather sealing against rain and dust, I don't have to be so concerned about keeping the lens (nor the EM-1) covered when I'm out in the rain. The EM-1's image stabilization makes low-light / slow shutter speeds not a concern so the f2.8 maximum aperture is plenty bright enough. Image quality is superb. Great job Olympus!

Great go-to, all around lens
This lens is very light and small, maintains sharpness with low aperture throughout the range, is quite fast and sharp at night with live bulb/live time etc, is said to be weather-proof (but I have yet to test this out), allows easy switching between AF and MF via the clutch or the L-Fn (when customized to MF), works well with extension tubes and yields great results with focus bracketing/stacking.
