Power Battery Holder HLD-8 for E-M5 Mark II (HLD-6P & HLD-8G)
The HLD-8 (HLD-6P & HLD-8G) is an optional dust- and splashproof battery holder and grip created especially for use with the Olympus E-M5 Mark II. The device can be separated into two parts -- one tailored to shooting in landscape orientation and one that's ideal for portraits.
The landscape unit includes a built-in shutter button as well as a dial for locking the grip onto the bottom of the E-M5 Mark II.
The portrait unit includes a molded grip for stable shooting while the camera is in the vertical (portrait) orientation, a built-in shutter button, two built-in function buttons that can be programmed independently of the function buttons on the E-M5 Mark II body, a DC-IN jack for continuous powered shooting (requires the optional AC-3 Power Adapter), and a compartment for storing an optional additional BLN-1 lithium-ion battery.
When shooting with the E-M5 Mark II and two batteries, you can choose which battery to use first; once it's drained, the camera will start using the second battery for uninterrupted shooting.
Dimensions (combined): 4.7 x 1.9 x 1.6 in. (119.2 x 48.9 x 41.4 mm)
Weight: 7.9 oz. (225 g)
The HLD-8 set only works with the E-M5 Mark II. You can also use the GS-5 Grip Strap with the HLD-8, available separately.

Ticks All The Boxes, But I Have Some Constructive Criticism
Overall I love this thing. It lets you carry an extra battery and it doesn't really add a whole lot of size to your kit. It's weather resistant. It's comfortable. It has extra controls. etc. I've heard people complain that it blocks the battery compartment on the camera, but what battery grip doesn't? That's just how they are, otherwise the ergonomics would be all funky.
- Water and dust resistant. A definite plus for hiking. I would not have bought it if it didn't have this feature.
- Comes with a normal grip AND battery grip, so if you want a small setup you can take the battery part off and just use the normal one.
- Controls: Two function buttons and two knobs so you don't have to worry about not having your controls at your fingertips.
- Size: It's nice and compact, just like the camera that it's made for.
- It's made of plastic. It doesn't feel cheap per se, but for the price I wish it were metal. The EM5 Mk II knobs are all metal, so it feels kind of weird when you go from the normal ones to the battery grip and they have a different feel to them because they're plastic. This is the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.
This grip fits the hand well and makes the em5 much more usable with larger lenses. For shooting in portrait mode it is very useful, not to mention the extra power and option for external power.

I love my E-M5 Mark II. I've given up my traditional DSLR's to go mirror-less. The battery's don't last very long, so I carry many if I am shooting for the day. I love the grip, it gives me the dual battery feature. When one drains it will go to the next battery without stopping me from shooting. Helps gives me more confidence using the Live Comp or Live Bulb Modes. I only give it 4 stars because the draw back is that I have to take my grip on and off to get to the battery in the camera. I worry to much, but I worry about the pins lining back up or becoming fragile for the amount of shooting that I do.
