About Austin

Award-winning filmmaker and photographer Austin Lottimer got his start making short action films using his father’s cameras before the age of 10. He then continued to build on his love for all things film by shooting several extreme skate and BMX videos throughout high school.

When he was 16, he started working professionally for Good Time Golf, a travel golf adventure television series for FOX Sports. There he began cultivating his trade, working on 52 episodes as a sound man and camera operator. Over the next several years, Austin worked on numerous independent film projects, music videos and documentaries, filling varied roles from key grip to video editor to director of photography, until he and his brother started their own film company. Formerly Bujin Productions, it is now called Trine Films.

“I live hard and play hard so I tend to take my equipment to challenging environments. This makes Olympus gear a perfect fit for me; allowing me the flexibility and professional quality I need to shoot.”

In 2012, Austin and his brother Maitland caught the attention of Olympus when he won the PEN Your Short 48 Hour Film Challenge at the Vail Film Festival with their short film Running Colors, this accomplishment introduced Austin into the Olympus Visionary Program.

After being introduced to Olympus’ new PEN E-PL5 camera in 2012, Austin began investing more time into his photography. Initially shooting landscapes, outdoor sports and abstracts, eventually leading him into more commercial and Lifestyle photography applications for clients such as Trail Runner Magazine, No Boundaries, Soldiers to Summits, Fleet Feet Sports and Saucony Shoes.

The Olympus Visionary Program is Olympus America Inc.’s official program for its sponsored photographers. Olympus Visionaries consist of a select group of photographers from across the U.S. and Canada who represent a variety of photography genres, and offer varying years of experience and influence. From Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalists to successful entrepreneurs to passionate creators who shoot and share their vision with their dedicated social communities, each has a unique point of view, an enthusiasm for Olympus products and the brand, a strong presence in the photography community, and best practices to share.

The Visionaries use their unique real-world experiences and technical expertise to inspire photo enthusiasts and professionals alike and embrace Olympus camera systems as their tool of choice for capturing and sharing their world in vivid detail. They provide product feedback in an effort to improve Olympus products, programs and services.
