Review of my recently Olympus SP-620UZ

I am quite pleased with my SP-620UZ. The zoom is fantastic. I'm also pleased with many features the camera provides. My old Olympus SP-550UZ utilized an XD card with a max of only 2G, and requied an XD adapter inorder to insert the SD card into some computer USB ports. My SP-620-UZ utilized most SD cards and I could not be happier with my purchase. Another great feature of my new camera is its light weight:-).

Good for the Price

It is a good camera for under $100.00 but I would think as a reputable company, you would have listened to your customers and fixed the lens cap! It won't stay on at all!

This is an excellent camera for a beginning photographer! The only thing the lens cap won't stay on. The online booklet could tell a little more though, but the picture quality is excellent and it is not hard to figure out how to work the camera.

Good product

I haven't had a chance to use the camera a lot, but so far it works great. The lens cover is bad. It will not stay on. It would be nice I could get a new lens cover to protect my lens. The bag that came with the camera needs a strap so you can carry it on your shoulder. The bag that came with it has just a small handle.

A Great Camera

I love this camera! I bought it because I wanted a more up-to-date camera to use at my grandson's graduation. I found the features:zoom, videos, as well as still pics very good quality. I do find on annoying feature--the lens cap is very inadequate, it keeps falling off. It needs to snap on and off... Design a new cap and send me one, that would make the camera about perfect!

good value

I got this camera from an Olympus email . deal was camera, case, corel paint program for $99.00. This camera lacks a lot of bells and whistles which is good for me. I am not a buff. I bought it for the zoom because I work at sea and things can be far away at times.
So far it has been just what I wanted. Good mega pixels and zoom.
The one problem I have is the lens cap. It seems like an afterthought. I am in a rough environment and need to protect the lens. I have not come up with a way to retrofit a lens cap. If someone has an idea please post

Point & Shoot User !

After going through years of great simple point & shoot cameras I decided to take a small leap. I picked this camera because of all the features it comes with at an extremely low price. I printed the owner's manual from the included disc. Someone here says no owner's manual was included. It's on the disc ! Anyway I printed it then took it to my local Office Depot & had them cut the pages in half. Then I purchased the correct size 3 ring binder (the small one). Punched the holes & there is the owner's manual. Our printed does print on "both" sides of the sheet of paper which helps. I practiced using the camera around the yard, flowers, trees, birds, the horses & dogs. I was amazed on how clear the pictures are. The menu dial is very functional, but takes a few tries. I also purchased a larger memory card this time, it's worth the extra $10 over the small one. The regular zoom to the digital zoom is incredible. This camera also has a multiple picture setting by simply holding the button longer, no recovery time in between. I don't want to upset some on here, but, taking extra time to read ALL of the owner's manual would prevent almost all the negatives posted here. My wife has an expensive Nikon. I like simple easy cameras. Also the styling of this model looks like it would cost twice as much. I shopped around and purchased this camera & paid $129 + tax & got the case for free. This camera also has a video feature & it is perfect for short takes. Purchase a AA Battery charger system to carry 4 back ups at all times, it's worth being prepared. Have Fun ! !

I like it!

Only had this camera for a week and, so far, love it. Exactly what I expected and more. As an old film camera guy, I have tried a few other digitals, and didn't like them. This camera has many good features and is a joy to use. The only fault I have found so far is the lens cap. As others have reported, it falls off easily. I fixed it by putting a small dab of epoxy adhesive inside the rim. Provides just enough resistance to keep it on. Problem solved. Don't think that you can get a better value than the 620. It's a lot of camera for the money.

This may be a good camera but I wish it came with an instruction book , I don't like the fact that I spent this money and it did not come with the ability to recharge it. You have to spend MORE money to get the accessory. Plus I don't think its easy to learn all that it offers.

I agree about the Lens cap. Come on, the little string that comes with it is impossible.

Easy to use features

This camera offers many features but is not too complicated to work out. Good value camera, definitely recommended. Only fault the lens cap does not fit properly and keeps falling off.

Menu problems

The selection of the items in the on screen menu is problematic. Some times it works and other it jumps a selection.

Great Camera!

Being as this was my first major camera purchase I could not be happier with my buy! Great photos great price and its everything I could want in a camera. It takes a little time fumbling through the settings and such but once you master it its really fun.

Big red

Easy to use right out of the box.

I like the one button feature for recording movies and the sound is great. Also the panoramic feature takes great wide angle pictures.

Lots to like, 3 drawbacks

I use this product for my job as an insurance inspector. It has more than enough zoom to reach the roofs of buildings; this is critcal to me. Light weight and the use of AA batteries are features I really wanted.
Drawbacks: lens cap is inaqdequate as it keeps falling off. I would prefer a real viewfinder that is moreusable in full sun, the movie button is too easy to access; I hit it by accident.

Really enjoying this product.

Just what I needed for my osprey pictures. The nests are high and I can get really close pictures. Can hardly wait to take some sports action too.
Learning how to use it as I go with mostly trial and error. Lee thomas

Amazing Value

I recently purchased this camera to take with me on my travels to Europe and Abroad. For the price I don't think there is anything that even compares. The pictures this little guy takes are top quality, top notch. Ive been using it now for about to weeks in Germany and it hasn't let me down yet. The only downside I've encontered so far is that it eats batteries up right quick. Ive heard some negative things about the videos that the camera takes..the few I've shot were clear and the sound was perfect.

Give me a SP590UZ

I don't like that the only viewing you have is this large!
If the sun is in the wrong spot, you can't see what yopu'r shooting?!
If I could, I would return thjs camera and settle for an older SP models

Product has great features but....

Lens cover is a joke... seen better covers on a Prinkles can. I haven't used all the features yet, but happy with about everything I have used. Cover just will not stay on the lens.

You would think someone in the video or even PC world would produce a DVD movie demonstrating their features and how to quickly use them. Help features built in the camera helpful but a DVD would be good, too.
