The large-aperture telephoto zoom lens (fixed f stop type), which provides f2.0* in entire zoom area. It is equivalent to 70-200mm on a 35mm camera, and covers from medium-telephoto range of natural angles to telephoto area with a compressed perspective effect. Its fast shutter-speeds and beautifully soft out-of-focus image behind the main subject are an ideal for portrait, theatrical and sports shooting under the low-light. Luxurious optical glass elements, such as, four ED lenses and one super ED lens are used to give the highest image quality with optimal resolution and contrast.
*The world's first f2 zoom lens among interchangeable lenses for SLR.
Directly compatible with E-System cameras. Compatible with Micro Four Thirds digital cameras (PEN\OM-D) through use of the MMF-2 or MMF-3 (Four Thirds Lens Adapter to Micro Four Thirds Lens Adapter). The MMF-3 is dust and splash proof for use with that type of lens on a dust and splash proof body. Note, AF performance may diminish as compared to being on an E-System body.

Excellent on the E-M1
The extra stop over the u4/3 lenses is critical for me when shooting indoor sports. Adapted to the E-M1, it focuses quickly, even for indoor sports.
It's also great for portraits and landscapes, details are sharp from corner to corner. This lens is sharp no matter if it's zoomed in or out, or if you're shooting wide open or stopped down. It's sharper than several of my prime lenses. Images taken with this lens have an unmistakable character to them, and the out of focus areas are rendered beautifully. Add in the weather resistant construction, and you have a nearly perfect lens.

Great Lens on the E-M1
The new MFT lenses are really sweet. But this FT classic is still fast, bright, and sharp once adapted to the E-M1. With an extra stop of wiggle room over its younger siblings, it's worth consideration and the investment.

I purchased this lens after purchasing the 14-35 over six months ago. I own the 50-200, which is a great lens, but the 35-100 exceeds it with great bokeh, sharpness and contrast. Did I say Sharpness? Super sharp. I use it every day in my studio both indoors and out. I love the colors outside. I couldn't live without this lens in my bag. Worth everything I paid for it.

One fine piece of optics
This lens, along with the 14-35mm are really the only two lenses you need for a day out shooting. It also works quite well with the EC-14 that I own, and I suspect the EC-20 as well, with a one and two stop "penalty" being the only price for using these. This lens provides sharpness end to end, and the colors come out of the lens quite real, with not much post processing required. This lens is hefty, and you will get just a touch finer images with a tripod, but the weight speaks well of the optics inside, and those optics, and the build, is what makes this lens a beautiful part of the SHG class of Zuiko lenses. I use it with the E-5, E-620 and even the E-1, and it performs quite well on each. If you are serious in wanting stellar optics, get this one with the 14-35 and you just might find those optics.

This has become my main lens
I purchased this lens around six months ago after purchasing the 14-35 f2 and discovering the amazing quality of the SHG lenses. I had used the 50-200 lens since 2005 but this lens is superior. While it does not have the zoom range the 50-200 has, the quality of the images are superior. Love the bokeh, sharpness, contrast and quick focus. I can't imagine getting better quality than this. No complaints, no regrets, well worth the money spent.

Outstanding Zoom Lens
This is an outstanding zoom lens for the 4/3 system. I use this lens often, second only to the 14-35 mm lens I leave on the camera for general use. It is outstanding as a portrait lens especially when used outdoors; the shallow depth of field allows for a pleasing bokeh. I use it primarily on the E3 body; this combination is weather resistant and I have used it in the rain and in all sorts of foul weather and adverse conditions. The optics are fantastic. It is heavy but still good for handheld use. I keep a neutral density filter on it to protect the optics.

mike the eye
exceptional broad spectrum lens
I've owned this lens for a little more than 1 year and have shot about 8000 pictures with it. Each is gorgeous, with great sharpness, contrast and beautiful color saturation. What a treat this lens is to the art of photography! I was a Canon shooter in my film days, converted over 2 years ago for the Zuiko digital lenses. I was right in doing so. The Olympus E3 and these lenses are a magnificent match, and I'm getting the E5 soon. The pictures are simply phenomenal. My standard lens is the 12-60mm, and it's also a 5-star performer. This one has the range and brightness, though, that gets you "the shot" that you can enlarge and work with. Very beautifully made; tough in the field, terrific optics! Go get one!
