Smooth, rapid autofocus is a crucial factor in image quality. The 40-150mm f2.8 PRO’s innovative, industry-first Dual VCM (voice coil motor) AF delivers. Separating the focusing mechanism into two lens groups controlled by individual linear drive motors makes AF performance extremely fast and, with no gears involved, nearly friction-free and incredibly quiet.

  • PROFESSIONAL
BUILD QUALITY

We know that serious shooters need the highest quality equipment, so we built the 40-150mm f2.8 PRO zoom accordingly. The premium metal lens body incorporates 16 elements in 10 groups, including Olympus ZERO-coated HD, ED, EDA and – for the first time in an M.ZUIKO lens – Super EDA glass for significantly reduced chromatic aberration, ghosting and flares. And its fixed f2.8 aperture is bright enough to capture sharp images across the entire zoom range.

    More
  • SPLASHPROOF,
DUSTPROOF, FREEZEPROOF.

Sometimes the harshest conditions produce the most dramatic photo opportunities. With 11 separate seals to keep out moisture and dust, the 40-150mm f2.8 PRO is ready to take on the elements. You don’t have to baby this baby!

    More
  • POWERFULLY PORTABLE

At less than two pounds and a constant 6.2-inch length (lens movement is internal), the 40-150mm f2.8 PRO combines with OM-D or PEN camera bodies to create a very stable shooting platform.

The 40-150mm f2.8 PRO also makes it simple to shoot your way. Adjust settings on the fly with the programmable L-Fn function button - located right on the lens barrel for easy access. Or switch instantly between auto and manual focus with the Manual Focus Clutch mechanism.

    More
  • ENHANCE YOUR ZOOM

A 1.4x teleconverter is available for the 40-150mm f2.8 PRO that extends its focal length to a whopping 210mm (35mm equivalent of 420mm) for those really long shots. You can also get a ZUIKO protective filter that features Olympus' renowned ZERO coating technology.

    More
  • NO DETAIL SPARED

The bundled lens hood has been marvelously designed to collapse back onto the lens for easy storage. When extended, the locking mechanism will fully support the weight of the lens and camera body. And to keep your investment safe, the bundled lens pouch will help protect against dings and scratches.

Together with my other PRO zoom 12-40 I feel no need for more lenses in my bag yet. Showed to a friend por in optics and he liked the make of it too.
It is making nice images... really pretty blur and bokeh is fine too Quite big on my camera OM-D 5MkII... but the foot for the tripod also works well as a handle for my small hands, so I tend to hold lens, not camera. I really love the ring... clutch... to switch to manual in one movement as I adjust focus. So got not having to find a button for that :-D Very very useful! I shoot most handheld and do not have problem with the size/weight. One thing I'd liked better is if leaving autofucus the manual would start where auto stopped, but it does not... I need to re-focus. Takes some practice... Right now I want the 1.4x extention, if just the webpages of Olympus were a little easier to navigate...

As good as it gets. Simple as that.
I've used this lens for over 4 months now to shoot both stills and video of my family, particularly my daughter's swim meets. I also own a full-frame Canon 5D Mark III with all "L" glass. I can honestly say that the Olympus PRO lenses are about as good as it gets for what they do. The 40-150 is one of the best telephoto lenses I've ever owned and, with the 1.4x teleconverter, should be in every serious MFT enthusiast's camera bag. Extremely well done Olympus!
