Dream lens

Sometimes you only understand how valuable things are when they are gone. My 75 mm 1.8 got stolen when moved to a new place.
I needed urgent replacement for my favorite portrait lens and bought it again.
This lens is awesome for close ups, and less for group portraits - with 150 mm eq you would be at yelling distance.
Focus tends to be fast - I observed focus hunting in low light situations.

Perfect lens

I finally purchased this jewel of a lens and I can only second all the previous rave reviews. The lens is sharp wide open with a nice bokeh. The compact size and low weight makes it a prefect fit in my m4/3 lens collection which includes the 12, 17, 45 and 60 macro. This is also one of the lenses that will challenge me to be more creative in my photography.

Great lens!

This lens is so sharp! IT is an excellent collection for my new camera O-MD E-M5 Mark II. The 75mm 1.8 is so clear; the video quality on this lens is superb. Wish Olympus would make the 4k in the future, though. AF drive offering a silent, fast and smooth AF. I have seen some extraordinary results with this lens. It has an excellent bokeh, with few fringing but not noticeable. My suggestion is, get this lens asap if you're serious about picture quality!

Though not a practical focal length, this lens is great to use and rivals professional grade lenses from Canon and Nikon. The build quality is fantastic - metal construction! The autofocus is good under low light but excellent in outdoor daylight. This lens is also sharp and produces overall great image quality - color, bokeh, skin tones, etc. I wish all the Olympus lenses were metal like this guy. BUT THERE'S NO LENS HOOD INCLUDED! Also, no weather sealing. But those complaints aside - I love this lens!

This is a VERY impressive lens. The feel of the lens is among the finest of any I've held in my hands. Super solid and 'dense' feeling (i.e. lots of metal and glass) without being overly large or heavy in any way. The 150mm f1.8 (35mm eq) makes it perhaps a touch long for some applications, but does give very nice bokeh and very shallow DOF. The sharpness ranks extremely high. It balances well with or without the option battery grip on the E-M1. I'd love to see this lens in a 'PRO' model with Olympus's excellent push/pull AF/MF switching and the ability to focus just a bit closer as well. This level of lens should come with a lens hood as standard equipment, perhaps using Olympus's excellent design on the new 40-150 f2.8 PRO. Very very hard to beat this lens.

Fast & sharp

I thought that I would not use this lens much. Wrong. Even at its 150mm equivalent length it works well for portraits and is a great street lens for shooting subjects that you can't get close to. Nice lens. With these fast primes Olympus has really scored.

I find this lens on my OM-D E-M1 more often than any other. For gatherings of people you can sit at the next table and shoot image after image of a person for an in-depth portrait. Outdoors, it lets the background retain a majesty that the eye sees but is hard to capture. The F1.8 Bokeh is wonderful. And F1.8 retains sharpness in a long lens when handheld because it enables high shutter speeds. It is sharp as a tack in all of its larger apertures.

Although it is not a lens I use often, when needed it is a wonderful, sharp lens. I use it for flower portraits, person portraits, and the occasional panorama. The long focal length and wide aperture shorten the depth of field for flower pictures or portraiture. The smaller sensor of the m.four thirds system really needs a very fast lens to reduce depth of field, and this is it.

No regrets for the past, for me small is beautiful.

After using Nikon (D300/D700) and Sony (NEX-7/A7r) now I use only Olympus. Two body OM-D E-M5: one OM-D E-M5 with M.Zuiko 25mm F1.8 and another OM-D E-M5 with M.Zuiko 75mm F1.8. No regrets for the past, for me small is beautiful. Image quality of the Olympus with its lens is sharp, beautiful with gorgeous color.
