Such a cheap piece of awesomeness

I bought this lens used, under a hundred bucks. I bought it more to cover the focal length than to actually use it in any serious way as I save up for the f2.8 lens of the same FLs. Boy, was I surprised!

Don't get me wrong, this lens isn't going to blow your socks off. Hell, the build quality alone makes you realize, "you get what you pay for." It's not going to fall apart on you or anything, well, mine didn't, but it's not exactly made of diamonds.

But then, I took some shots on the beach one day and didn't feel like running around with a prime lens as I usually do. Granted, it was in broad day light, so I just set my aperture to f5.6 and shot away. When I got home, I edited my shots, and lo and behold, darn nice images were popping up left and right! No major issues with sharpness, CA, or color reproduction either! At the end of the day, I think this lens is easily worth it's asking price. I just won't use it in anything darker than broad day light!

Wonderful Lens, Espcially for the Price

I purchased this lens for $99 on a promotional sale and it is a steal at that price. The optical quality of this lens is magnificent, and its compact size and weight are a breeze to carry along with my OM-D E-M10 MARK II. The sharpness and contrast and overall image quality are stellar, particularly in outdoor settings. The autofocus is blazing fast and this lens is a perfect companion to any MFT camera. My only complaint is that it does not come with a lens hood, and the hood costs nearly 1/3 the price of the lens at $25. Still, even with the hood purchased extra, you can not go wrong at this price. A tremendous value for the money.

Great Value

Incredible value for quality optics. Not the fastest lens, but great in good light. Very fast autofocus. Used for shooting auto races, frozen race cars on track at ISO 400, 1/1000, cars going100+MPG - incredibly sharp with images cropped forever. Very compact and extremely light. Build quality may not be forever but at the price.....Still we fly in plastic airplanes now so why not plastic camera lenses?

Useful range. I own 14-150 too but sometimes I like to take the 17mm f/2.8 prime and 9mm fisheye body lens, so 40-150 is all I need for medium distance. Not weather sealed but slightly lighter than 14-150. I love that this is small and light enough for PM2 and PL/7. Light weight enables it to handle well on them. Turns a PEN into a versatile powerhouse. With 14-42, a 17mm prime and a fish eye, makes a very versatile, light, compact kit for a reasonable cost that can shoot nearly anything. Works great with the MACRO attachment for even more versatility.4 stars because I wish it was brighter, but for the use I love this lens, am amazed you can buy something like it at the price point.

Very nice medium range zoom lens

I recently purchased this zoom lens. I was looking for a zoom lens to complete my photo gear and I wanted something sharp, well build, light weight, and that captured great images. This M.Zuiko lens was the perfect fit for me and all my olympus cameras. Takes great images, well built and super light weight, so its good for traveling photographers. I love this lens and always have it handy.

Great low price lens with acceptable quality

This is the first micro four thirds lens I bought to complement the Olympus 14-42mm kit lens. For the price, it is an excellent lens that can get you started with telephoto. The picture quality and distortions are acceptable for me, and I always carry this lens in my gear alongside several primes. If you can wait, Olympus usually gives a great discount on this lens during seasons.

Wow shots for a grea t price

The title really says it all. This lens is versatile and still delivers a "wow" factor without hurting your wallet. I use it all the time for wildlife shots especially. This is a great lens, especially for those who don't have the budget or expertise to warrant an upgrade. I won a photography contest with a shot from this lens, so just because it's not considered a "pro" lens doesn't mean you should pass it up! I don't see myself ever getting rid of mine. I take it with me any time I travel.

Best One

I bought this lens for only $99 when I bought an EM5 with a kit lens. What a bargain. And, after several years of use, it's proven to be a very competent and useful lens. It's so light and compact that it's almost a no brainer for a light travel kit. It's also surprisingly sharp through most of its range, and better than my Panasonic Lumix 45-200 at the high end of the range. An under-rated lens because of its all-plastic construction, it is a fine performer in most of its range. Not as good as the 40-150 f2.8 Pro, but it's hardly expected to be. 5 stars on a performance and value scale.

Light weight wonder.

This lens is a light weight wonder! I purchased an Olympus OM-D E-10 as a light weight alternative to my DSLR. I added the 40-140 M.Zuiko during the summer sale for the same reason and more zoom than the kit lens. This is a very nice lens at a very attractive price. Sharp and light was what I wanted and I got it! Can't wait to continue adding lenses to this system.

amazing

can't beat this lens, especially with the price. I've noticed it shoots better images IMO than my kit lens. Zoom ability is perfect for novice photographer just wanting nice images of my travels! It is a nice size and complements to range with your kit lens nicely. Theres no way you can pass up on this lens unless you have the money to upgrade, however I have no desire to replace this one.
