M.Zuiko 25mm f1.8 at a Glance

The M.Zuiko 25mm f1.8 is your ideal ideal all-around lens for shooting stunning images both day and night. With a 25mm focal length and 47 degree angle of view, this lens sits right between wide and telephoto design. Its fast f1.8 circular aperture delivers beautifully soft defocused backgrounds, perfect for portraits. It also delivers superb detail even when lighting is less than optimal, which means you can skip the flash in many low-light situations – even when the subject is moving.

  2. F1.8 Maximum Aperture
  3. High-Speed Imager AF (MSC)

  • WHAT YOU SEE
IS WHAT YOU GET

The 25mm focal length of this lens reflects the way you see the world: natural, straightforward and undistorted. Its angle of view is closest to the human visual field, so what you see with your eyes matches the perspective of the images you capture. This makes the 25mm f1.8 a perfect fit for “snap shot” photography, as you can easily take images as you see them without thinking about the composition of the photograph.

  • BUILT FOR BEAUTIFUL BOKEH

Photographers who shoot a lot of portraits and still-lifes are always seeking good bokeh. You may not know it by this term, which comes from the Japanese word for “blur” or “haze,” but you’ve no doubt admired photos where the subject is in focus while the background is seriously blurred. Lenses with relatively shallow depth of field – like the 25mm – are especially well suited to capture the combination of tack-sharp subject and beautifully soft, defocused background that exemplifies bokeh.

  • ALL-AROUND PORTABILITY

Adding a lens like the 25mm f1.8 to your kit is a great idea if you’re interested in taking beautiful images of your family and friends, or even your food when you’re out to eat! In fact, this lens is a terrific walking-around for everyday photography lens – it’s compact, lightweight and flexible enough to freeze action one minute and capture candid portraits the next. It’s an excellent choice for the photographer who’s looking to expand his or her creative options.

  • SHHHHH, AMAZING
PHOTOGRAPHY IN PROGRESS

The inclusion of the Movie & Still Compatible (MSC) mechanism makes AF operations completely silent. In combination with the OM-D's Silent Mode (electronic shutter), you can photograph skittish nature subjects as well as indoor events that require complete silence like musical performances. The size and weight of the OM-D system and these silent features open up a whole new world of shooting possibilities!

Enthusiast photographers: Consider this lens
If you have bought a camera body only and are looking for a lens, I would strongly recommend this lens. It is great fun, it allows you to blur your backgrounds and isolate your subjects, even if you are a terrible and terribly lazy photographer like me which shoot in Auto mode. It is worth every penny. Great for street photography as well, if you have a PEN series camera, having a view finder would be advisable but not compulsory.

Amazing piece of Zuiko magic
Easy to shoot, sharp from wide open to across the different aperture range. Gives you the needed bokeh for those close up shots. I loved the 45 when shooting my kid. But the 25 allows those tighter shots when I'm closer to her. It is relatively more expensive lens, but I'm glad to be able to pick this up at a good price.

Great all purpose lens
I've come to love a fast prime, and this 25mm is the perfect all-around focal length. A lense like this can almost make you forget about zoom lenses. It's fast aperture makes it very useful and responsive in low light, It can do decent portraits, but I'd prefer a longer focal length for that. The f/1.8 has allowed me to get some really good photos on many of the Disney "dark rides", where flash is prohibited. It's simply a great walk around lens, I enjoy it immensely.
