Much better than early reviews indicated

This lens was much anticipated in light of the medicer 17mm/2.8. Image quality is much better than the 2.8 and autofocus is very fast. Initial reviews lamented the lens did not compare with the 75mm or the 12mm. However, it's almost as good, comes in a beautiful metal housing, and is ideal for moving scenes because of its quick focusing mechanism. A winner!

Must have for Olympus kit!

This Olympus blue striped, 17mm lens has been long awaited by many OM-D and PEN users. It has a very solid construction, it focuses lightening fast, the 1.8 fast aperture, and is nice and sharp. While not pancake in design, it still out preforms it's predecessor, and it's rivals, and still smaller than the kit 14-42!

The scale focusing ring is excellent and smooth! Not many complaints here.

The M.Zuiko Digital 17mm f1.8 ability to be flexible in shooting conditions

I'm traveling with the M.Zuiko Digital 17mm f1.8. Because I discovered how great this lens is on my Olympus EM5. What I noticed is how shard the image is in every shooting condition. when i at f 1.8 or f 8 which I consider two f stops this lens shines on which allows you two camera positions to find the ultimate sharpness in your CoC and depth of field. The lens is light , and focuses fast. It's not only a good close port rate lens, but great for illustration and street work. I enter the town of Vigone , Italy at night to find a small festival. With the M.Zuiko digital 17mm f 1.8 I was able to appreciate the personal sides of people you don't understand when you don't know them. I could work close to subjects and back off and allow people to express what they say as important in the moment.
