The FL-600R is an easy-to-use, external flash unit with a wide LCD display and wireless control capabilities. It features a built-in LED light that can function as an AF illuminator for still images or as full-time auxiliary lighting for shooting movies. As a bounce flash, the FL-600R tilts upward to 90 degrees and downward to 7 degrees, and it can swivel side-to-side up to 180 degrees in each direction. A wide panel and catch light plate are built into the unit, so you won't misplace them when traveling. Flash settings can be adjusted using the arrow keys and dial on the back of the unit or via the controls on an attached camera.
In wireless mode, the FL-600R has a built-in *commander function to remotely fire other wireless flash units without firing itself, but it can also be used as a slave flash, controlled by a camera's built-in flash or by another commander unit. Up to three groups of flashes, plus a clip-on flash such as the FL-LM2, can be configured independently. Four wireless channels are available, which prevents interference from other photographers' flashes. In addition to the wireless option, the flash can be attached and locked securely onto a camera's hot shoe or mounted externally using a compatible flash bracket and cable, such as the FL-BK01, FL-BKP02, FL-BKM03 or FL-BK04.
Powered by four AA alkaline or NiMH batteries, the FL-600R's charging time is approximately half as long as that of the FL-50R.

- *8 mm equivalent coverage (35 mm equivalent focal length = 16 mm) with built-in wide panel
- *Firing angle: Approx. 30 degrees
- *6 modes: TTL-AUTO, AUTO, Manual, FP TTL-Auto, FP Manual, RC

- *9.0 oz. (255 g)

* Note: The commander mode function is currently only available on the EM-5.
Wireless mode is not fully functional with the PEN E-P1\E-PL1\E-P2\E-PL2, or the E-1 or Evolt 300\330\410\500\510. Wireless Mode only works in Manual mode on the flash, not TTL. The flash will provide TTL when mounted directly on these models.
Note: Wireless TTL mode is possible with the SP-560UZ\SP-565UZ\SP-570UZ\SP-590UZ. These models do not have a hotshoe. The firmware of the SP-560 UZ must be updated to provide this functionality. Firmware updates can be downloaded and installed via Olympus Camera Updater software.

The fl 600R is small, compact, lightweight flash but powerful, easy to use and very capable
Wonderful flash with lots of options
This flash is great. Not as powerful as the Fl50r, but designed with the CDAF of the new mirrorless cameras in mind. Still 4 batteries, but with the video LED and remote commander functionality this complements the Fl36r and the fl50r very well. Great addition to the OMD or Pen cameras.
Small, Light and Powerful
The FL-600R flash is small, light, is powerful for its size and recycles quickly. It tilts from -7 to 90 degrees, as well as swivels a full 360 degrees. It makes bouncing light very easy to do. The FL-600R has the following shooting modes: TTL auto, Super FP TTL, Manual, Super FP Manual, Auto, Slave Auto, Slave Manual, and Remote Control. You can use the FL-600R as a slave unit with the small flash that comes with the OM-D E-M1 as the master (the FL-600 comes with its own small stand), as a stand-alone flash or as a master unit. The flash stores the settings for each mode- for instance, if you frequently use it in TTL auto, full manual, and perhaps slave auto, it will recall the last settings that were used in each situation. Also, when connected to the camera, if you turn the camera off, the flash turns off as well; when you turn the camera on, it will turn the flash back on as well. It has an LED light which is great for macro work or finding things in the dark. The flash uses four AAA batteries.Read More
Works like a charm
I've used some cheap flashes and some knock off triggers in the past. I was getting some amazing results, so I decided to splurge a little to make things a bit more convenient. HOLY COW! What a world of a difference! I don't regret starting off doing things manually, but the jump from manual flash photography to auto almost makes you feel like you're cheating. I'm considering picking up a couple more to get even more creative!Read More
A solid choice.
I moved to the OM-D lineup from a Sony alpha system. The only features that can be improved are the shoe mount lock as I find I'm constantly not locking this flash in the shoe correctly (a fault of the more standard design, the Minolta/Alpha mount is something all camera manufactures should have standardized IMO). I also miss being able to tilt the flash from side to side to orient the head when holding the camera in a portrait orientation. The flash is well built, the controls work well, and it's nice and compact.Read More
