The latest model in Olympus’s legendary PEN series wraps powerful photographic performance in an elegant skin. Leather and brushed metal accents draw inspiration from timeless Olympus designs, but features like ergonomic controls and a clever downward-opening monitor – for the best selfies ever – address the needs of thoroughly modern photographers.

The E-PL7 is a compact, interchangeable lens camera with a modern twist. Built-in Wi-Fi and the upgraded OI.Share app let you control the camera remotely and post images instantly, while spectacular image quality, a selfie-centric touch screen interface and numerous creative tools make this the perfect choice for aspiring photographers.

Can such a small camera handle 15 different lenses? It can when it’s the E-PL7. Build your system from an impressive assortment of M.Zuiko Micro Four Thirds fast primes, wide-angle and telephoto zooms, and macros, all with the unmatched digital-specific optics and premium build quality that set Olympus glass apart.

Genuine leather body jackets and lens covers. An add-on electronic viewfinder. A variety of external flashes (most with wireless remote control). A compact underwater housing compatible with five M.Zuiko wide-angle and macro lenses. Add style and functionality to your E-PL7 with a wide array of premium accessories.

Lens cap fits with the optional
M.Zuiko ED 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 EZ lens.

The same advanced core image processing technology – 16MP Live MOS CMOS sensor, TruePic VII™ image processor and in-body three-axis image stabilization – found in Olympus’ critically acclaimed OM-D E-M10 lives inside the E-PL7. Every nuance of your subjects will be captured at a level of detail that will astound you.

Life moves fast – but the E-PL7 is faster. Its lightning-quick autofocus system facilitates high-speed sequential shooting – up to 8 frames per second. The 81-point AF grid covers the entire frame so you can zero in on any area. Improved AF tracking makes panning on a moving subject easier than ever, and Focus Peaking improves your accuracy in manual focus mode.

A Smarter Connection

Turn your smartphone into a photographic accessory with the E-PL7. Its built-in WiFi allows you to control the camera remotely, which is great for selfies, tripod shooting and – new to the E-PL7 – video recording. The camera’s unique QR code lets you instantly connect your smart device and camera using the newly improved OI.Share app.

Love the PL/7

Have PM1, PM2, PL/5. Love the PL/7 for the additional dial control on top and the in-camera HDR function. Love the look, grip and the way it handles. Bought the body case and the leather strap to go with it. Makes a professional looking kit of it. Tilt LCD is really trick. Wonderful form factor with wide zooms and primes. I can put it in a jacket pocket with a pancake lens on it. A real powerhouse in a small package. I love the way its part of a system like my OMD EM-5 so I only need one set of lenses and only need to learn one menu system. Great job Olympus. What will you do next?

Snap the dragon

It's not often you stumble across cameras like this. It's like a

In several days of shooting (a few hundred frames) I haven't encountered an instance of "shutter shock." The improved shutter seems to have eliminated that particular issue.

So I love this new capability that I have now. Camera is a lot smaller, friendlier to camera adverse people, looks classy, works and feels great (the body is part metallic construction). The functions on this camera are quite extensive, and not at all crippled like some other brands where they often over-simplify on models like this. So I haven’t lost much power or control over my E-M1, just some speed.

After having this camera for the last 6 months I am upgrading to the Olympus OMD e-m5 ii. I have been so impressed with the shots that my Olympus e-pl7 has done and I have converted at least 100 people around me with the absolute great pictures it takes so effortlessly.

My black PL-7 with the black 14-42 EZ pancake, black automatic lens hood, a brown leather half case with matching brown wrist strap is a very beautiful compact camera, which is not going to scare of the objects of your photographic passion. you rather going to face the challenges that people want have a closer look.

Love this Camera

I was very hesitant at first when I started the process of choosing a camera, I wasn't sure if this camera would be the right one for me. I've had it now for about 3 months and I have to say that I absolutely love this camera. I love that I can link it to my smart phone to take photos, the process of transferring photos to my desktop is simple and I love how well it takes the photos. I am not an expert at all in photography however, this camera makes it easy. I am always pleased at how well the photos turn out. I've been practicing a lot with Macro and this camera has been wonderful. The only thing that I think is missing from this camera would be the eye viewer. I do miss that but it is still a wonderful camera. I would recommend this to any avid photographer.

A beauty

My black PL-7 with the black 14-42 EZ pancake, black automatic lens hood, a brown leather half case with matching brown wrist strap is a very beautiful compact camera, which is not going to scare of the objects of your photographic passion. you rather going to face the challenges that people want have a closer look.
The only thing you are going to miss is a view finder - I have a VF-4 but this makes the camera much less compact - So maybe not the best camera for bright sunlight....

Loving for the WiFi

I have always had Olympus cameras since I bought my first camera when I was 11. This camera does not disappoint. I am loving this for its WiFi feature which makes it so easy to transfer photos. It takes great photos in most lighting situations, haven't used the flash attachment yet. Amazing photo quality and a lot of manual controls/ features for getting just the right settings. Super!

Great Camera to start with

After having this camera for the last 6 months I am upgrading to the Olympus OMD e-m5 ii. I have been so impressed with the shots that my Olympus e-pl7 has done and I have converted at least 100 people around me with the absolute great pictures it takes so effortlessly.

I would recommend this as a starting camera if you want to give Olympus a try. The lenses are all able to be used with the higher versions of the camera's.

The only reason I docked the camera is for the wifi connectivity with my cell phone. I couldn't get good connections without scanning it every time. I am not sure if it is my phone or not and I will see if the camera needs an update. All in all still a very good camera.

Old Photographer, New Camera

I've been a photographer for decades. As I grow older my cameras grow lighter. This Pen E-PL7 looked fun and interesting. Some of the controls are small and hard to read. But the camera is relatively fast and accurate. The weight is nice. I use off camera flash most of the time and this camera works well that way. There is more to learn, but it's fun. Love the prime lenses!

First time Photographer

I Have been Looking for a camera for first time Photographers. I came across the the Pen E-PL7 and had a good review for people who want to just start / learn photography. I have a friend the has a different model and say's he loves his camera as well take's it every where he goes. I have now had mine for a month and love it! I have been very happy with the quality of photo's it has taken. The touch screen it easy to use and I so far have no problem navigating it to get the results I want. I purchased the kit (body and lens). Thank you Olympus for a great Camera and I would do it again if I had too!

Best PEN Lite to date!

The E-PL7 builds on the previous PEN models. I currently own two E-PM1s and one E-PM2. I enjoy carrying a Mini when I'm out with friends and the E-M5 or E-M1 would be too large to fit in a small bag or to hang from my wrist. The E-PL7 gives me the same ease portability, with an articulating screen, onboard Wifi, and more advanced image processing features. The E-PL7 brings the TruPic 7 image processor, which gives you access to many of the same features as the E-M10 or E-M1. My favorites being Live Composite and Partial Color. The 3-axis image stabilization is noticeably better than previous image stabilization features in the Mini and Lite models.

In several days of shooting (a few hundred frames) I haven't encountered an instance of "shutter shock." The improved shutter seems to have eliminated that particular issue.

A nice touch is that the VF-4 evf will automatically switch to the evf when you bring it to your eye, unlike on the previous PEN Lite and Mini.

The design of the E-PL7 has more retro touches than the previous PEN Lites, and is a very stylish camera in the silver and black model, especially when it's sporting the 17mm/f1.8.

The buttons give adequate tactile feedback. The mode dial has good resistance, and the finely knurled surface gives secure purchase to a fingertip. I like the control dial moving from the back to the top when shooting with the evf. Another nice touch is the tripod socket is aligned with sensor axis, though it isn't aligned with the focal plane.

The front and rear grips give adequate support with normal zooms.

The LCD is gorgeous, and the tilt mechanism feels sturdy. I like the 3:2 aspect of the screen, which means screen protectors designed for the OM-D series will fit the E-PL7.

The E-PL7 is an affordable ILC in a classic rangefinder style with both fun features and some advanced capabilities found in the OM-D series. Best PEN Lite to date.

A very good camera

It's hard to summarize a whole camera in a few paragraphs, so I'll just start with the conclusion that this is not an exciting product for many, but it is still a great one that does things my E-M1 cannot.

I picked this camera up after using my E-M1 for as much as I could, but found that I needed a secondary body that was more portable when the situation wasn't as demanding. Also with a set of small primes mostly collecting dust after getting the 12-40mm pro zoom, I really wanted a smaller body to really take advantage of those lenses, and not a higher end point and shoot.

I also firmly wanted in-body-image-stabilization, so that led me to the Olympus PEN line. At first the E-P5 seemed to be the thing, since it shares the same battery and IBIS with the E-M1 and E-M5, but I dismissed it because of one big thing.

Group selfies.

Seriously, as a photographer, I find that no matter my gear and skill, I never seem to get into any of my pictures with my family, and it's really quite sad. It's like I don't exist in any of the albums we have. It's like being the world's best barber being unable to cut his own hair. The E-PL7 gave me that, and all the new stuff like WiFi geo-tagging with my phone. I seriously hope the next OMDs come with the same level of screen articulation and software functions to do a bit of selfie taking. The E-PL5’s implementation isn’t quite as refined, so I passed on that camera as well.

It’s much more fun to shoot now, as I don’t feel the same level of seriousness and pressure I get from the E-M1. Selfies sure sound really uncool, but I don’t care--it’s fun, and that’s mainly why I love photography. E-PL7 helps me in that regard, and more. It’s a great camera in my eyes.

P.S. You can disable that video button (red dot button) if you keep accidentally hitting it with your thumb. Hasn’t happened to me yet, but I’ve heard some concerns about it.
